Human Genetics, Genomics, Precision Medicine Professor

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Department of Neurology has an opening for a tenure track faculty in neural genomics/precision medicine. The position involves patient care, research and teaching/service. A substantial portion of time will be devoted to research endeavors. Person filling position will be expected to develop robust extramurally funded neural genomics/precision medicine research program. Clinical activities will involve attending duties in outpatient clinics at the UW Health clinics, the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital or other locations. Genomic/Genetics Fellowship training. Neurology residency, licensed or eligible for Wisconsin medical license. Board eligible or certified in Neurology. Candidates for associate or full professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track

Duties include basic or translational research, outpatient and inpatient clinical service and teaching.

  • Position will be initially 75% research, 5% teaching/service and 20% clinical. 
  • Research responsibilities include developing an independent, extramurally funded neural genomic/precision medicine research program. 
  • Weekly clinical activities will include providing at two one-half day clinic sessions of outpatient neurology clinics at the UW Hospital and Clinics, VA Hospital and other locations. 
  • Teaching responsibilities include teaching and mentoring medical students, undergraduates, graduate students, fellows and residents and teaching continuing education programs for physicians, other providers and the public. 
  • Candidates at the rank of associate or full professor will hold a leadership role in the department.
