I would like to welcome any interested applicants to apply to our Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship. Our fellowship is designed to have sufficient flexibility to fulfill the requirements for the ABPN subspecialty certification of Clinical Neurophysiology while also tailoring each experience to the desires of the fellow.

We are a Comprehensive Epilepsy Center offering the full range of care including devices (VNS/RNS), advance diagnostic modalities (PET/MR, SPECT, fMRI, and high-density EEG), as well as epilepsy surgery with invasive EEG monitoring including stereoEEG.  Our program has a focus on dietary therapy for epilepsy patients and an emphasize on continuous EEG monitoring for the critically ill.  We have nine adult epileptologists and five pediatric epileptologists, world-class Neuropsychology with an active epilepsy monitoring unit, and surgical program in both adults and pediatrics. Fellows can choose 80%, 70%, or 50% focus on EEG/epilepsy.

For interested fellows there is an EMG/Neuromuscular option for 50% focus. You will train with clinical experts in EMG and Neuromuscular disorders. In addition to EMG and NCS, fellows can learn specialized techniques including single fiber EMG, muscle biopsies, muscle pathology, and neuromuscular ultrasound. As a secondary focus, fellows can decide to do 20% or 30% intraoperative neuro-monitoring or sleep medicine.

For interested fellows there are basic science and clinic research opportunities in critical care EEG, dietary therapy of epilepsy, animal models of epilepsy, high-density EEG, and structural and fMRI including the ongoing U01 Epilepsy Connectome Project (in collaboration with the Medical College of Wisconsin). A second-year option is available for interested candidates.

Our fellows have a perfect board pass rate and have gone on to successful careers in academic and private practice settings. We enjoyed a collaborative team approach to patient care with a balanced approach to clinical duties and academic activities. The University of Wisconsin is a world class university located in Madison—a medium-sized city with the cultural amenities and cosmopolitan atmosphere of a larger city while still enjoying the friendliness, pace, and ease of daily life you would expect in the Northern Midwest.
