- To refine neurological based clinical differential and management skills
- To care for patients from a systems perspective
- To learn to rapidly identify and manage neurological emergencies
- To gain exposure to EEG, EMG, and Lumbar punctures
- To develop professional skills related to research and quality improvement
Objectives
- Recognize neurological disorders, localize the lesion, and develop a diagnostic and management plan
- Communicate with team members in a respectful and effective manner
- Formulate case presentations
- Identify normal background rhythms on EEG
- Explain the role of EMG in localizing neurological disorders
- Evaluate and properly manage neurological problems such as seizures, headache, radiculopathy, polyneuropathy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Guillain barre syndrome, etc.
- Review literature and treat patients with evidence-based medicine
