Introduction
Outpatient neuromuscular time will be roughly 50% clinical time and 50% neurodiagnostic. Effort will be made to have consistent clinical schedules in order to provide continuity of care with neuromuscular patients. Fellows will be assigned to attending clinic sessions, however patient assignment will be ultimately up to the attending. Residents, neurophysiology fellows, medical students and other learners may also be assigned to the same clinic setting, with the goal of the neuromuscular fellow to independently evaluate assigned patients.
Pending availability in both fellow and attending schedule, an urgent neuromuscular clinic may be established for fellows to evaluate new patients, to be staffed with available neuromuscular attendings.
Ultimately, follow-up on lab work and other diagnostic testing is the responsibility of the supervising attending. However, fellows will be expected to follow-up results with patients they evaluate in the clinic, with attending supervision.
Fellows may be asked to cover attending in baskets while out of office. This is intended to be limited, to help fellows gain experience covering for colleagues and an attending will always be assigned with the fellow to co-cover an in basket.

2 | Appropriately order and interpret neurophysiology and lab studies and muscle biopsy | MK3 |
3 | Recognize basic pathologic abnormalities in muscle and nerve biopsies | PC1, PC2, PC3, MK1, MK3 |
4 | Counsel patients and their families regarding their diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options | PC1, PC2, PC3, MK1, MK3 |

Additional Milestones
Please grade the fellows on any of the following milestones you were able to evaluate during this rotation:
PC7, PC9, SP4, PL1, PL2, PR1, PR2, PR3, IC2, IC3, IC4, IC5
Schedule
If a clinic must be cancelled for a vacation, professional conference, etc., then this must be requested at least 60 days in advance. This allows the department to review the request internally and still comply with the UW and VA hospitals’ policies, which require 45 days’ notice.
Conferences
Attend per conference requirements, clinics do not overlap with conference times.
